The Effects of Earthquakes

May 12th, 2008 is a special day for China, even the world, because a strong earthquake measured a scale of 8.0 on the Richter degree hit Wenchuan county, Sichuan province. It was so terrible that we could not describe the scene when we saw or heard of it. What we could recall is the whole world was shaking and rolling tremendously, some of us became faint and didn't know what to do or where to go. The earthquake almost destroyed everything: many high buildings were flattened; thousands of people were injured or even killed; the communication in Wenchuan was completely cut off from the outside world. Especially, hundreds and thousands of children were buried under the buildings,and many of them lost their parents; similiarly hundreds and thousands of parents also lost their children.

But everyone firmly believes that we’ll conquer the earthquakes at last. Although the death toll has risen to near 70,000, and there are so many aftershocks. Nearly all the attention focuses on the rescue works and rebuilding of the city.All Chinese people are united, Premier Wen Jiabao went there and acted as the gerenal commander of the relief team, the government and Party immediatly ordered armies to fly to help the victim out of predicament. Now lots of volunteers and armies are also working hard to help them to rebuild their hometown.

To some extent, we are unfortunate, because the earthquake destroyed our home, however, it is the erathquakes that make us aware that love is around us all the time, we see the disaster could not defeat us, instead, Chinese people become by far more united than ever before, from the earthquakes, the Chinese people display great resolution to answer all kinds of challenges to make our country more thriving and prosperous.I'm sure the victims of the earthquakes will soon recover and rebuild a better home, Let's pray for them.
